When you're raised in a South Asian household, your input accounts for zilch, which is why my room was a mishmash of furniture and miscellaneous decor assigned by my mother. But now—by the power vested in me by my wallet—I've begun transforming my room into a sanctuary, starting with my desk setup.

Visual Simplicity

With the modern world stressing me out, I don't need my room to petrify my eyesight with competing colors and patterns. Instead, it should calm me with its functional and visual simplicity to the extent that I may even forget it's there.

White: Primary Color

Why choose white? Because white walls reflect light and a white desk makes for an inviting workspace that helps me focus. Infrequently used items, like my PhoneSpa, are like camouflage when in the primary color. I don’t need to think about them, but they’re readily available when needed.

Black: Secondary Color

Black items on a white background create a crisp contrast that draws my eyes to my essentials like the smartphone stand, LED mousepad, catch-all tray, and headphones.

Gray: Tertiary Color

Since everything can't be a perfect match, I consider any shade of dark gray as a tertiary color. That's where my Logitech M570 wireless mouse—with a black trackball—and my MX Keys wireless keyboard come in.

Silver Accents

To complement my Macbook Pro, I added a silver headphone stand and spacious penholder for two trusty pens. The metallic texture reflects light with a matte finish.

Minimalistic & Modern

So yes, I thrive with organization because the structure eliminates guesswork. This black and white color scheme might be cold or dull to some, but its minimalistic approach saves me energy. It also simplifies my purchasing decisions, and the modern look makes me feel good!
